Mozambique Casinos
Tuesday, 9. February 2010
The consistent shortage in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in a sense somewhat puzzling, in one way or another.
In years gone by, the country was a region where many South Africans would visit to detach themselves from the extremely confining regulations on betting (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Therefore, you are likely to expect somewhat of a booming location to cater to that tourist market.
On the other hand, perhaps it is not really a bewilderment. The country is truly the most deficient over the world, having gone through a gruesome civil war (followed by catastrophic floods) from which it is still, very slowly, bouncing back. This could make a place way less of a tourist focal point, as much as there is presently a developing setting along a couple of the country’s breathtaking beaches.
It is in addition confirmed that regionally at least, Mozambique’s casinos have had to cross with many others in the lately liberalized South Africa, inclusive of the recognized Sun City founded by the Kerzner family management.
Here’s a list of Casinos in Mozambique:
Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel
There are 78 slot machines and also video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, also a poker table.
Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino
There are forty slot machines, American roulette, and also two tables for poker as well as punto banco.
It is thought that over time the total tourism business in Mozambique will flourish efficaciously. While the local languages are, evidently, African, there is as well the portion of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the current and growing origin of English, both from South Africa and as part of the global phenomenon. The country is very cheap (naturally, as it is extremely poor) and as above, has some of the most stunning beaches over the world, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the class of assets that make tourism agents drool, and as the country elevates out of its prevailing slump, it is likely that not only will tourism boost, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer as well.
While the country is not expected to ever restore its notoriety as a target for partying South Africans, as there are now other options closer to home for them to oblige in, the enhancement of a long distance tourism sector is being planned. This would be to cater to Europeans looking for winter sun, as a getaway from the dullness of the Northern Hemisphere winter. And, to top it off, the greatest prawns (shrimp) worldwide are just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
