There are many casinos in the commonwealth, the majority on docked barges. The grandest of the Iowa gambling halls is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, a Native American casino in Tama, with 127,669 sq.ft. of gaming area, 1,500 slot machines, thirty table games, like twenty-one, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several styles of poker; as well as three eatery’s, daily entertainment, and casino lessons. An additional big Indian casino is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 sq.ft., 668 one armed bandits, and fourteen table games. In addition, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs never closes, with 38,500 sq.ft., 1,589 one armed bandits, 36 table games, and four eatery’s. There are several other popular Iowa casinos, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 square feet, 1,212 one armed bandits, and 39 table games.
A tinier Iowa casino is the Diamond Jo, a water based casino in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 slots, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend river based, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 square feet, 535 slot machines, and 14 table games. Another Iowa paddle wheel boat gambling hall, The Isle of Capri, is open all hours, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 slot machines, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 square foot water based gambling den in Clinton, has 506 one armed bandits, 14 table games, live entertainment, and Thursday blackjack events.
Iowa casinos provide a great amount of tax revenue to the commonwealth of Iowa, which has permitted the funding of many state wide projects. Tourism has gotten bigger at an accelerated rate along with the requirement for processors and a growth in jobs. Iowa gambling dens have been helpful to the expansion of the economy, and the enthusiasm for gaming in Iowa is widespread.
